I am the Artist in Residence at the 8th street market place suite L138. My new studio is in the downstairs near the North entrance to Cafe Ole and I will be there through June. I will host first Thursday art openings each month from 5pm-9pm to show new work. My last 2 months I have been focusing on my landscapes with and emphasis on rock climbing. Come check it out!

February I was jurried into a "Klimt" inspired show in Ohio, participated in The Artisans figure painting exhibition in Eagle, and had work in "Love Rocks" at the Visual Arts Collective in Garden City. It has been a busy start to the year and I am loving it!!

Happy 2010! I am looking forward to this year. My plans are to reel in production (is that possible?? I can't stop!!) and focus on national and international jurried exhibitions. My friend (and fabulous wedding photographer) Jason Ropp has helped me with my photography, which will make a big difference.

Also keeping me busy are painting and jewelry commissions for my favorite patrons!

More Exciting news is that a paintings of my beloved Palouse is on the cover of the Moscow Visitors Guide. My friend Tom Hamilton, another excellent photographer, helped me get the correct photo in for submission. This year is starting out hopeful for sure!

The Valentine for AIDS is coming up (Feb.5-15) at the Flying M coffeehouse, 500 W Idaho street in Boise. It is a silent art auction to benefit SNAP. I always donate a piece for my "valentine" and proceeds are a tax deductible donation for a good cause! In conjunction with that, the Visual Arts Collective (V.A.C) is hosting LOVE ROCKS music & art for the same benefit opening Feb. 5th 6-8pm free and ($5)music to follow. I am planning on taking a few different pieces there as well. Be sure to check them both out!!

Patrick and I had the chance to visit the Sonoran Desert and I was delighted by the stark and spiny landscape! So you may see some cacti and desert colors in my 2010 work.

The Loft Gallery in Hailey thrives and continues to support my work, (owner) Alissa has been selling my jewelry and pottery and would welcome you at her door.

The Artisan Gallery in downtown Eagle has been a loyal support and joy to be part of. Owner Karen Neiderhut, also an avid painter, has a great collection of local art. Her gallery has my paintings, pottery, and jewelry and also hosts other fine painters, sculptors, jewelers and artisans. Support Local and go check it out on your next venture to Eagle!! The Artisan will be hosting another "erotica" show for the month of February, there will be an abundance of tasteful nude paintings (mine included). Opening night is Feb. 5th, 6-9pm, please come and enjoy the show!!!

Finally, I have jewelry and Paintings on display and for sale at The Front climbing club, the new gym in Garden city where the sales have been great and the staff rocks!! Stop in for sure.

Human Anatomy in Landscape
Artist Statement for "Erotica" show at The Artisan Gallery

I have always admired the female figure. The curvilinear shapes and volume under skin is akin to my natural style in markings of line and brush. Human forms, contours, and lines inform my landscape paintings. The figures became a subconscious focal point in my work. The landforms I paint have an intention and breath of their own. However, I keep finding figures in the landscape and have addressed that calling.
At first I wanted to make clear the connection of figure to landscape. I joyously achieved that in my first “mother Earth” painting. Sinking a beautiful woman into the very landscape that I admire, connecting and duplicating the lines of Earth and body, I illustrated the illusion that always seemed to occur in my landscapes without intention. With the sky on fire and the cool earth below the figure illustrates the peaceful loving connection I have with the Earth.
The next series of figures slowly began to break away from a specific environment and had a more atmospheric quality. I give the viewer more intuitive credit and have allowed for the mystery of the lines and forms to unveil themselves. It is the same line that drains snowmelt from the hills, carves out a river, and forms the horizon line that I have painted. These same lines and forms of the land can be found in my paintings where the arm meets the body, the declivity in the middle of the back that follows to the backside, and the “saddle” where the lower back meets the buttock. The body of work is a celebration of human form, landscape, and atmosphere.

Things to look forward to....

Today is the last day of the sale at the Artisan Gallery in Eagle, Idaho.

January I have a show of Idaho Landscape Paintings in Moscow, Idaho at The Cafe Silos. -I just can't get enough Idaho.- February 13th, 2009 I have my first figure painting show, I am so excited! The show will be at The Artisan Gallery in Eagle, Idaho and up for the month. There will be an opening reception on the 13th so please mark the date and join me and ALL NEW WORK!! The show is called "Erotica" and it will be a showing of my paintings and work by Karen Neiderhut, and Mark Davis. The Gallery at Hyde Park in the North end of Boise, Idaho will be featuring a collection of my work in April. Finally The Loft Gallery in Hailey, Idaho will be hosting a show and reception at a date to be announced! 2009 is going to be great and abundant year and I am bursting at the seams to tie up the loose ends of 2008 so that I can begin the work ahead.

Boise Weekly Cover Auction

All of the Artwork on the Boise Weekly is donated by the artist. Each year the weekly has an art auction to sell all of the art (there are a lot of weeks in a year!) and this years is November 12, 2008 at the Idaho State Historical Museum. Doors open at 5pm and the Live auction is at 6pm.

I have a piece and it is a painting of the Black cliffs in the foothills. It may be and opportunity to get a piece of my work for a low price!! Hope you find a beauty to bid on!

I am hard at work in my studio preparing for this years event. For those of you that are new to this event it began as a way for me to share my pottery with friends. The idea was that you would buy a bowl and I would fill it with some home made soup. Then it just kept growing and growing and became a way for folks to get unique Christmas gifts directly from a local artist. For the first time this event is being hosted at a business and I will be able to focus on chatting with guests about my artwork. Paintings and jewelry will also be available.
